The only consolation for the Houston Texans after Deshaun Watsons season-ending knee injury: At least they're not the Indianapolis Colts.The news of Watson tearing his ACL in Thursdays practice overshadowed the other major AFC South news from earlier in the day. The same cant be said of Luck.Almost 10 months removed from surgery on his right shoulder, Luck still hadnt recovered to the point that he could throw without sorene s. A cortisone shot didnt alleviate the pain, leading to the final decision that Luck needed even more recovery time.We all were optimistic that this was going to work out sooner than later, Colts general manager Chris Ballard told media Thursday. Luck, too, is culpable for continuing to play through a 2015 injury he should have gotten fixed shortly after it happened, rather than playing through pain until surgery became a nece sity.But spending time dwelling in the past doesnt do anyone in the Colts organization any good when the focus must remain on how best to handle an uncertain future.The medical prognosis on Luck isnt as important now as it will be in March. Thats when the Colts must have a clearer picture about whether Luck can return to being a franchise quarterback.If there is doubt and the Colts remain on track for a top-four pick in Aprils draft, using a first- or second-round pick on a quarterback should be strongly considered especially if current starter Jacoby Bri sett doesnt look like he can develop into a quality NFL starter or sustains serious injury himself considering he has been sacked aleague-high 35 times already in seven full games.MOCK DRAFT: Do Colts draftoffense or defense in Round 1?Having another potential franchise QB playing under a relatively modest rookie contract would provide insurance at the position and help mitigate the salary-cap damage that will come if Indianapolis is forced Nick Foles Jersey to eat Lucks contract.
