A long song today made me thing of Cowboy Beebop. the music reminded me of some of the soundtrack. I really like that movie and the series. Also Ghost in the Shell is fav of mine. I dont know to much about many more. If anyone knows these and can recomend any others that i might like. Also any disscusion would be cool. Dont know to many people who watch them.
Dont forge to use the spolier quote for any info that would give away info to those who have not watched.
Thanks |

Seems like you enjoy Yoko Kanno's music from Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell. You may also like Yuki Kajiura's music, for the Noir series.
I watch some anime, not as much as I used to. I started watching Lain but found it too slow and psychologically trippy because of the blurring between life and "The Wired." It practically gave me nightmares.
One of my favorite anime series is Full Metal Alchemist which follows two brothers trying to restore their bodies after a horrible alchemical experiment. The series has humor and cute animation yet shows a dark and philosophical side when the brothers start uncovering wartime abuses of alchemical powers.
If you scroll down this wiki, you'll find a bunch of cyberpunk anime, which is the genre you seem to like. Hope this helps! |

I like Anime/Manga but I don't watch them often. I like Cowboy Bebop, but don't watched Ghost in the Shell yet. Thanks for the tip.
I have two suggestions:
Akira - a classic from 1988 (imdb)
Heavy Metal - an ocidental anime from 1981 (imdb)
Both are old but I like them very much. SciFi on better style. |

Great question mangler, thank you for asking it
I don't watch anime that much anymore, no time to, however I did enjoy a lot of these series in the past and I still am a Studio Ghibli addict!
Anime covers a lot of genres but there are some classics and Cowboy Bebop is surely one of them.
If you like sci-fi, you will surely enjoy GITS Stand Alone Complex and GITS 2nd Gig which are two 26 episodes series based on the Ghost in the Shell universe. Music by Yoko Kanno.
I'd also recommend Memories, which is made of 3 independent shorts; the first part, Memories is about a recovery mission in an inhabited space station... Music also by Yoko Kanno.
I can also mention Metropolis, which doesn´t share too much with Lang´s masterpiece but remains a good and entertaining movie.
Another good show: Planetes, showing us the day to day life of space garbage men; Very realistic, might not be what you´re after... |

thanks all for the replies.
Zirael - thanks. never much paid attention to who did the music. Ill look into these artists. I have seen parts of a few of the Full Metal Alchemist. I think they are on cartoon network. Ill have to check out the wiki link and see whats there. thanks again.
Pesadelo - I am in the same boat, not much time to watch. Alchemist put some more detailed info about GITS. I have watched both series and like them. A friend had the DVD's. He had recommended them to me. He is now in Southern California and i am in Florida. Akira! Yes I have seen this and forgot about it. What a great wierd movie. Heavy Metal is a classic and i had seen that many years ago. Also a new version of that one HM2006 or something like that. not as good but not horrible. thanks
Alchemist - No Problem! As i said i dont get to watch as much as i would like and haven't watched any in almost a year. I have the Cowboy Bebop on DVD but relied on a friend to see the others. (see Pesadelo note) I have seen most of the two GITS series you mentioned. One i watched on TV and the other got the DVD on loan. Ill try and check out the Memories and Metropolis and planetes. I have picked up the Metropois one several times at the video store but never rented it.
Thanks again everyone for the chat. |

Mang, another suggestion is "Death Note." A little weird, but I found it compelling. In truth, I don't remember the music being all that interesting, though. |

I browsed a huge amount of anime shows a while back when we first got Netflicks. The only one that grabbed me and kept me interested was Initial-D.
It may be that the subject, racing, is closer to my heart than others. But truth is most anime is very repetitive, doesn't really move the story forward in any particular direction. I find myself bored with them. |
