|
Favorites Lists and Album Info pages now display Amazon and iTunes icons for tracks purchase. This new feature demands information for each single track in the songs list. A table with such data is being filled as long as queries to Favorites and Albums are being done.
Because of that, during the next few days, delays on the first access to Favorites Lists and Album Info are being expected. These delays will decrease in time (since the table will become complete).
Notice that this holds only for the first access to a given Favorites List or Album Info. So, for example, if your Favorites List delays more than the usual to load, the next access to it should take the customary time to complete.
On updates, new albums will delay the display of the Album Info page, only for the first access to that.
We appreciate your comprehension. Thank you. |

I have a question about the delays. Maybe it is just me, but the site seems almost severely slow and I have not really seen an improvement based on the idea that information is being populated and should improve over time.
Here are some not-so-scientific examples:
Loading entranced.fm into browser for first time: 15 seconds
Load favorites: 8-15 seconds each time, no improvement if I load the page over and over
Click to load queue: 12 seconds.
Reply to post: 10 seconds.
I don't notice a real difference based on time of day or listeners. I would expect it to be worse with more people browsing around then get better when less people are logged in or listening.
Is it possible something else is slowing things down? The site used to be real snappy, you could grab a favorite and have it in the queue in just a few seconds. Now it can take a half minute or better.
I don't mean for this to come off as a complaint. I LOVE this station and think the format blows away the likes of 1.FM etc. I hope it improves over time as I worry the slowness could turn people away. I know I've given up myself at times. I even did a fairly comprehensive search for other trance stations but of course nowhere compares to EFM...
Keep up the good work everyone who puts in time to make this station what it is. Perahaps sometime soon all this will improve. |

Thanks for your feedback, gopherhockey.
I think that it is an issue at your side. The stations are loading at regular rates and the described effects for Favorites hold.
Is it slow still? |

I installed firebug into Firefox and get interesting results.
Getting modules.php?name=Queue_Played takes 17.17 seconds to load. Out of that time:
0ms DNS lookup
50ms Connecting
0ms Sending
17.03 seconds Waiting
91ms Receiving
This confirms how it has been appearing. What I cannot seem to do is dig further to see what the wait time is all about. From what I can tell so far is it might be a network issue.
When I enable Vyprvpn, which forces me to use a different route to entranced.fm, speeds are incredibly faster. I show a 5 second wait instead of 17 second.
Its odd that this is the only site I notice this with.
I reported this to my ISP as a possible routing issue, although i doubt they will help. It started right around the time the update was done here so it made it seem like that was the cause. Maybe the issue will magically go away in time. |

Hello Gopher.
I think you may expect 5 á 6 seconds as normal for a reload
of the whole page with queue visible.

Thanks for testing. 5-6 seconds definitely feels like it used to feel, so its the 18 seconds that made the difference. I don't know it I'll ever be able to figure out what happened to add the extra 12 or so seconds and slow it down like this - I'll see if my ISP gets back to me on it. They are fairly small so maybe they will actually try.
Its almost unbearable as is. |
